Our Approach
Africa holds 13% of the world population but consumes only three percent of all electricity in the world. In addition, more than half of the African electricity is generated in South Africa, the rest of Africa has to manage living with so called traditional energy.
The World Bank gives the following figures: 90 percent of the 850 million Africans south of the Sahara are using wood waste, manure and expensive oil as fuel for their daily energy needs. Only 15 percent of all Africans are connected to the electricity network.
A reliable and sustainable energy network is necessary for the poorest in the world to be able to work in order to improve their living conditions.
However, large scale energy systems require investment and maintenance efforts. Therefore Energy4All is promoting "micro-utilities”; small scale energy systems that meet the needs of the local population. Our concept is based on local entrepreneurship which prevents development funds from disappearing in a bottomless pit. Particularly the local entrepreneurship fosters sustainable business that can exist without support or interference of the West, and is a seed for further local economic development. |

Affordable Services
The thus offered service match the need of the local people and can be offered at an affordable cost. With this background started NICE, an international company that develops energy efficient Internet training centers in developing countries equipped with solar cells. The local entrepreneurs are as franchisees owners of their NICE center. |
